This month I took part in an Instagram challenge, #TheGreatModuleSewalong. It ended on March 24 and that evening I was just staring into space thinking, “What am I going to sew now?”
I got up and browsed fabrics on my favorite sites. But I had no direction. Do I want to make a dress? A jumpsuit? Out of what?
The next day it came to me: I need to do another module!
The structure and format of a module made all my vague ideas come together. I decided to call this next module “Spring In Isolation 2020” to remind me of my unique time in social isolation due to coronavirus.
This module will be 2 tops, 1 dress, 2 bottoms and 1 topper. The tops need to coordinate with the bottoms and all must coordinate with the topper. Here are the patterns and fabrics I selected:
Tops
Aida Top by Sew Liberated in cotton chambray from Califabrics

Melody Dolman by Love Notions in double-sided coral gingham from La Mercerie.

Dress
Molly Dress by Sew Over It in ponte de roma from Sewing Studio.

Bonus: I can wear this under my Erin Skirt, so it will double as a top.
Bottoms
Erin Skirt by Sew Over It in Japanese non-stretch denim from Threadbare Fabrics.

Sasha Trousers by Closet Case Patterns in stretch cargo twill from Sewing Studio.

Topper
Blackwood Cardigan by Helen’s Closet in a remnant of oatmeal sweater knit from Sewing Studio.

My swatches should give you an idea of the color palette for this module. The Neutrals are: white, oatmeal, taupe. Basics are: navy, light blue. The Statement color is: Coral.
My plans were probably influenced by recent fabric and pattern sales. I picked up the Aida top 39% off, in celebration of the designer’s birthday. The Melody Dolman was a $5 Friday sale from Love Notions. I bought both the Sasha Trousers and Blackwood Cardigan in email offers from these kind designers who want to help keep us busy at home during this crisis. Sewing Studio offered free shipping until the end of March. It’s all appreciated!
I’ll start the sewing with tops. The Melody Dolman pattern is already cut out and the fabric is pre-washed. Stay tuned! -rp
